UNT Polo club is a rec sports club that plays at Prestonwood Polo Club in Oak Point, Texas, 20 minutes from the UNT campus, UNT students can come learn the sport of kings for a fraction of the cost and UNT Polo club offers students more opportunities to play polo than any other college in America, both outdoor grass polo and indoor arena polo, college polo scholarships are also available via the USPA. The UNT polo club's Men's team is the best college polo team in the country back-to-back 2023 & 2024 Division 1 National Intercollegiate Polo Champions, established in 2018 as a new rec sports club, it catapulted into the spotlight in 2019 by making it to the Central Regional finals defeating TCU, OSU, SMU and only losing by 1-point to defending National Champion Texas A&M, which went on to win the 2019 National Championship, UNT's success in the Central Regional tournament earned it a wildcard berth in the 2019 National Tournament. but lost in the semi-finals to perennial powerhouse UVA. In the fall of 2019 UNT Polo again made headlines by recruiting one of the top high school polo players in the country, Vance Miller III: https://www.ntdaily.com/addition-of-third-miller-inches-unt-polo-closer-to-championship/ then with Vance Miller III in 2020 UNT became the No. 2 ranked college polo team in the country by defeating Texas Tech 25-3 and SMU 11-6 to earn the number 2 seed in the United States Polo Association 2020 National Tournament (cancelled due to COVID). In 2022 after 2 year hiatus due to COVID the UNT Polo men's team won the D1 Western regional Championship defeating Texas A&M 12-6 and SMU 15-14, advancing to the National Championship at UVA where it lost in the finals 13-7 to UVA. Then finally in 2023 UNT earned redemption defeating Texas A&M 20-7 and UVA 14-9 in the 2023 National Championship which aired Nationally on ESPNU. In 2024 UNT Polo made history, after losing 2 Seniors, the team successfully defended its title, coming off an undefeated fall 2023 season it defeated Texas A&M 17-15 and SMU 17-8 to become back-to-back National Champions. Polo is the funnest coolest sport in the world, it's also a co-ed sport with womens and mens teams and co-ed mixed teams. UNT polo is coached by 4-time National Championship Coach Vaughn Miller Sr and assisted by some of the top youth players and professionals in the country. Prestonwood Polo Club is also home of the TCU polo team and hosts the Texas College Polo Championship every Fall.
