PRESTONWOOD WRAPS ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL SPRING / SUMMER SEASON

Prestonwood Polo Club in Oak Point, Texas north of Dallas wrapped one of its most successful spring/summer seasons ever. Spring season opened Sunday April 16 with Easter on the Lawn worship service by Crossway United Methodist Church and a 6-goal polo match won by Team Bentley of Vaughn Miller Jr, Ronnie Puente, Sidro Olivas & Octavio Rodriquez defeating Team Morgan Stanley: Pelon Escapite, Vance Miller III, Devein Gallemore & David Werntz Jr by a score of 8-7. The following weekend Prestonwood moved the Earth Day Polo Cup on April 22 into the arena after heavy rains. Team Morgan Stanley of Pelon Escapite, Ronnie Puente & Devin Gallemore defeated Team Bentley of Vaughn Miller Jr, Vance Miller III, David Werntz Jr by a score of 15-12. On May 6 Prestonwood held its biggest event of the year, the 16th annual Polo on the Lawn Kentucky Derby Day charity event benefitting the Children's Advocacy Center for Denton County, Team Morgan Stanley of Vaughn Miller Jr, Vance Miller III, David Werntz Jr and Vaughn Miller Sr defeated Team Tiburon of Collen Clark, Ronnie Puente, Javier Cortez & Devin Gallemore by a score of 7-6. On Saturday May 13, Prestonwood hosted the 1st Ability Connection Charity Cup benefitting the disabled, Team Morgan Stanley of Vaughn Miller Jr, Vance Miller III, David Werntz Jr & Oscar Blanco defeated Team Emerald Sound of Ronnie Puente, Umair Kaimkhani, Vaughn Miller Sr & Chris Jones by a score of 6-5. The Frisco Life Preakness Stakes Cup was held May 20, Team Emerald Sound of Ken Williams, Javier Cortez, Vaughn Miller Jr & Greg Summers defeated Team Cross Oaks Ranch of Ronnie Puente, David Werntz Jr, Umair Kaimkhani & Vaughn Miller Sr by a score of 7-5. May 27 was the Polo Rocks Cup, Team Morgan Stanley of Vaughn Miller Jr, Umair Kaimkhani, Vaughn Miller Sr & David Werntz Jr regained their winning ways defeating Team Oklahoma of Greg Summers, Ken Williams, Chris Jones & Cinderella Von Falkenhausen by a score of 9-5. Prestonwood’s June Polo Leagues kicked off with the 1st Prestonwood Scholarship Arena Cup with the USPA White team of Pelon Escapite, Franz Felhaber & David Werntz winning the round-robin match 4-3 and 3-2 over teams USPA Red Vance Miller III, Niklaus Felhaber & Johann Felhaber and USPA Green Ronnie Puente, Vaughn Miller Jr & Fritz Felhaber. On June 6 Prestonwood hosted Polo for the Planet Cup with the Blemont Stakes live, Team Morgan Stanley of Pelon Escapite, Umair Kaimkhani, David Wernt Jr & Niklaus Felhaber defeated Emerald Sound team of Ronnie Puente, Fritz Felhaber, Franz Felhaber & Johann Felhaber by a score of 9-7. On June 17 the 2nd Annual Dallas Symphony Debuantes Honor Guard Cup was held in front of a huge crowd. The round-robin match was won by Team Wind-Rush Farms of Stuart Irby, Vaughn Miller Jr, Ronnie Puente & Fritz Felhaber defeating Team Morgan Stanley of Pelon Escapite, Umar Kaimkani, Davd Werntz Jr & Niklaus Felhaber 3-2 and Team Cross Oaks Ranch of Vaughn Miller Sr, Vance Miller III, Johann Felhaber & Franz Felhaber 5-2. After some heavy rains Prestonwood concluded it’s spring/summer season with Patriot Cup on June 28, Team Morgan Stanley of Pelon Escapite, Vaughn Miller Sr, Vance Miller III & David Werntz Jr defeated Team Bentley of Vaughn Miller Jr, Ronnie Puente, Nacho Estrada & Chris Jones by a score of 6-5. Prestonwood introduced its first ever 0-2 goal Coaching League on Wednesdays in June consisting of the many new beginner members, 4 teams entered the league and the winners were the Red Knights: Pelon Escapite, Trenton Werntz, David Werntz, JB Long defeating the White Comprades team of Vaughn Miller Sr, Umair Kaimkhani, Jade Crabtree & Summer Kashua.
Prestonwood Interscholastic players Vance Miller II, David Werntz Jr, Trenton Werntz and JB Long traveled to St. Louis Polo Club in July to complete in the USPA NYTS Tournament, Vance and David's team won the tournament and were awarded All-Stars.
Prestonwood players and 2016 National Champs, Vaughn Miller Jr & Ronnie Puente, traveled north this summer to Bliss, Michigan and enjoyed 70 degree weather playing in the Bliss Polo Club 8-goal league with 6-goaler Pelon Escapite. The boys did well winning the Bliss Cup by defeating Orchard Hill 11-10 and were featured in the Morning Line.
